Nitro Powered RC BuggiesThe most popular nitro powered rc buggies come in both 1:8 scale and 1:10 scale. When compared to a nitro powered On Road car, The most noticable difference with nitro powered rc buggies are the bigger tires which provide higher ground clearance since the nitro buggy is designed for off-road racing. You'll also notice that the shock absorbers are oversized and very visible, and the traditional body design is more I-framed like a real scale dirt racer.
Here are some additional features often found in the best nitro powered RC buggies:
Nitro powered RC buggies aren't designed for extreme high speeds like the on-road touring cars. They only average around 45 mph out of the box. Since they are raced off road on dirt tracks with jumps, turns and bumps, they are specifically designed for lightening quick acceleration and maneuverability, hard landings with shock absorbing, redundant components and materials to prevent major damage, four wheel drive for power to all wheels during times when all four wheels may not all be on the ground, quick braking to avoid crashing, and an angled front chassis plate for nose down landing. Beginner Level: A steady favorite is the CEN Racing ATX (all-terrain extreme) buggy (shown above). As you can see by looking at the chassis (below), the front and rear suspension arms which hold the tire mounts are redundant. This doubling allows the CEN Racing ATX to take a lot of punishment without requiring just one piece to absorb all of the impact.
Take a look at the shock towers. These allow for very large oil filled coil wrapped shock absorbers to be used which further reduces the punishment that often leaves a lesser quality buggy broken. The CEN Racing ATX has big, knobby tires for maximum traction and of course, a sealed receiver/battery box to keep the eletronics clean from dirt and dust. This is one of the BIGGEST nitro powered rc buggies and is a great choice for backyard fun or racing a large scale sanctioned races.
